Welcome to Broadband Wireless Internet Access (BWIA) Satellite!
I started BWIA Satellite because satellite provides a type of service that no terrestrial system can do - huge (continental) coverage footprints. As such, Broadband Internet Access via Satellite is definitely a part of the overall Broadband Wireless Internet Access industry.
Yes, Broadband Internet Access via satellite does have issues, including overall capacity, latency, and cost.
But it does work, and work well, especially the newest generations of satellite technology such as purpose-build satellites (such as what WildBlue is doing, and the newest generation of HughesNet satellites) and newer generations of satellite access terminals with better digital signal processing and link optimization.
